A Snapshot of Our Company
Welcome to Skyparts.com, the world's greatest search engine and online store for parts.
Bintelsoft, the predecessor to Skyparts.com, was founded in 2002 as a partnership between Ole Stein and Suresh Appukuttan, as a software company dedicated to providing bar code technology to manufacturer franchised auto parts dealers. This greatly simplified the management of spares parts inventory. Mr. Stein had a previous consultancy business and felt a need by dealers to simplify the very manual intensive processes they used to maintain their inventory. He started adding this service to his other consulting assignments to dealer acclaim.
In 2010, the partners felt there was an overall lack of support in helping dealers sell their inventory. Even though e-commerce was becoming a major market force in other industries, replacement parts sales remained locked in the same sales model that had been in place since the 1950s. Leveraging their knowledge of the industry and e-commerce, the partners built a virtual Storefront that could be used by any dealership. This became the foundation for Skyparts.com. Additional usability and interface capabilities were added to the core Storefront to make it seamless in the dealers' operations.
Ole Stein, President and Chief Executive Officer
Skyparts.com founder and inventory specialist Ole Stein started his automotive career in 1957 as a mechanic apprentice in Oslo, Norway. After graduating in 1961 he emigrated to the U.S, and held jobs as Parts Manager and briefly Service Manager, until he started his own Automotive Inventories in 1984, performing Physical Parts Inventories for auto dealers. Still active and performing between 35 and 45 inventories annually, Ole felt the need to expose these parts inventories online, searchable and buyable 24/7 by anyone including the general public.
Ole started Bintelsoft Inc. with Suresh Appukuttan in 2002 and launched a parts search engine called checkanumber.com in 2010. Checkanumber.com was re-named and formally incorporated as Skyparts.com in 2012.
